High revving on 997T startup ?

Hi all,

Probably been asked before...however...

Does anyone know why a 997T should sometimes rev very highly on initial startup ??

My 2006 car has done this on and off for yrs now and until now, I just accepted it.

Is this normal ? Is there anything I can do to prevent it as it really upsets my sense of mechanical sympathy [&:]

(feet off pedals....turn key when starting from cold....revs to about 4k !! then immediately returns to normal tick-over).

Doug, mine was a 2006 and never did that,

Sounds like a faulty something or other... air sensor type thingy ... [&:] [;)]
 
My 2008 does that occasionally - usually when I haven't driven it in a few weeks. Probably automatic to help it start.

Not an issue as far as I am concerned.
