High speed vibrationl

Just suppose, theoretically, I was to drive my 944S2 at 120mph and felt strong vibration coming through the steering wheel, which went away at lower speeds. Would it most likely be a wheel balancing problem or should one look at other things too?

I would have thought it would have been evident at a lower speed, say around 60mph, then again at 120 ( should you every try!)
I would say rack, swivels, track rod ends would only need the timiest of wear to cause vibration at those speeds.
I had a almost unnoticeable bulge on a tyre the size of a pea which at speed would be forced out by centrifugal force to become the size of an apple at speed!
Needs checking !

Thank you for sharing your thoughts. I need two new rear tyres, so will get all 4 wheels balanced at the same time.
I dont get any problems driving at UK legal speed limits, but it would be worth doing as I'm off to Germany in July. [:)]
