Hillclimb

Right, thought I'd move the post to here to reduce confusion.

Having seen the R31 at the Prescott Hill Climb in PP. I thought I'd see if anyone fancies this as an extra activity for later this year or next.

John - if there is interest I am happy to have a punt at organising this. Though you might want to see how the Dartmoot trip goes before taking me up on that!

As an aside, R31 seem to be v. active and yet hardly use the forum at all. Can it be that it is all done via PP???

I'm always up for a visit to Prescott. Did my two runs up the hill at the classic car day the other week and it was great, so count me in.

The Bugatti Trust is an added bonus there, and interesting exhibition.

You might find they only have limited use of the hill, but they do run a hillclimb school there.....wonder if they'd take a block booking from PCGB members?!!

I am already on the case but what ever we do will be relatively expensive. Watch this space.

You're right James, I've just checked. Hillclimb school is £175 per person. I'll get round to doing it, some time, anyway. Might be more fun with the club, though.

Wonder if they'd be happy to have us just visit the Trust and have a couple of untimed runs (probably still needs marshalls and tow trucks I suppose)?

Yeah, the Drivers School is £175 + VAT per person if you don't have enough people to block book the hill. If you do block book it works out at £155 + VAT per car for a full 34 cars. Both options include proper instruction, all the marshalls, breakfast, lunch and afternoon tea.

Or you can simply book the hill itself for £4600 + VAT which includes marshalls and safety briefings but nothing else.

The chap I spoke to said that people who go for the £4600 option generally bring 60 or so cars which makes it a much better £77 + VAT each. This allows 400+ runs up the hill over the day.

I think we'd have to join with one or two other regions in order to muster 60 cars!

Region 31 has the very experienced Geoff Ives at the helm and he is well connected. I have learned a lot from my first proper year and mistakes made wont be repeated. They also appear to meet on the second Thursday, and for all that the actual number who attend meetings is somewhere around the same as us, perhaps slightly less, but the percentage of members is greater as R31 has less members to start with. To be perfectly accurate, their forum looks like it is used about half as much as R19.
