Was there a black 924S at Loton ? I know a chap who competes mainly at Loton in that and he is quick, also 2 gents compete at Harewood in a 924S and they are getting quicker with every outing.

There was a black 944turbo at Loton competing in the members class but I didn't see it go up the hill. There were a couple of 911s, stripped out, lightened etc competing against a couple of Audi ur quattro Sports.
At Prescott yesterday all I saw was a 911GT2 and one of the 911s from Loton.
Is this the sort of thing we can encourage forum members to go to ?
From a spectator or competitor stand point I wish more people would come and watch/participate in these events. The paddocks are always friendly places and most drivers are more than happy to chat about things, as long as it is all going well. If you want to know any specifics about licences, equipment etc just ask. Some piccies of the last Harewood event here.

I presume that it was car 114 from the results http://www.hdlcc.com/images/uploaded/5319675_3616617.pdf. Not sure whether the figures are pre or post handicap so not sure how it compares with the rest of the class...

PCGB have a Hill/Sprint championship which is popular, but the classes are not really geared to the clubman who want to drive too and from the event in the car they are going to compete, especially if the competitor lives up north[8|][8|][8|] (rant over)

Are you supposed to be parking it there? Looks like it's part of the track

I really enjoy hillclimbs but they can be dangerous depending on the layout. The ones I've seen in Britain look much safer than the ones I've seen or competed on here. The whole 'trees at the side of the track' thing doesn't inspire a feeling of confidence. The last one I went in a guy was sadly killed in his open wheeler when it flipped. Not a great day.
It certainly is difficult to compete against all this high tech Jap stuff nowdays, on the hills or the tracks. [
I like the friendly atmosphere of Hillclimbs and have taken up marshalling to get closer to the action and find out more.
There is a National event at Gurston Down, near Salisbury on 23/24May if anyone is interested in going along.

I have to admit I should not be sideways at that point, on the event that picture was taken, I just could not get things right, I was guilty of overdriving the car. I had just tried to cut the kerb and it really unsettled the car and kicked the back end out. I was also messing around with tyre pressures and could not get the rear end planted as it should be. I have just re-indexed the rear suspension again and it is going in for another 4 wheel alignment next week with yet more aggressive settings.
I am hoping for a better day on the hill next time, still a bad day on the hill is better than a good day in the office!
Chris was the supercharged 911 velvet red (burgandy)? if so he was at Loton last year and could not get the car running as it should and left after first practice.
Next Event at Harewood 9th May if anyone wants to pop along.
Three that I know of from Region 19 are going...see you there.
PS
Picture at left was taken on the hill last year.
