how can i get the history on my porsche is there somewhere that records can be bought etc etc.....recently bought a 944 turbo se desperate for history on her any advice would be appreciated........thankyou

It was all held by the dealers, consequently if the dealer is no more then the history is probably destroyed. Crazy? Yes, but unfortunately true. Based on the chassis number any OPC can tell you the supplying dealer and original options which is a start in your search.

The sticker on the inside of your boot will also have the original factory options and the chassis number is coded and can tell you the factory the car was manufactured in and other stuff. There are some web links on other threads that take you to websites that show you how to decode your chassis number.

Unless the car came with all the invoices and documents then you are going to struggle [:(]

You can request copies by matching stamps and dates in the service book, but most dealers will refuse, quoting the Data Protection act

ORIGINAL: silver rose baz

Robert - You can get a certain amount of information IE Owners Name and Address, Date of Aquisition, Date of Disposal, Mileage ............. - History - from DVLA. Worth having for £5.00.

I did also manage to get a copy of the Original Shipping / Import Data via my local Porsche Centre but have been unable to raise a response from the Original Dealer!

If you go onto the DVLA website and download the V888/2 form (link below) you can send this off with a cheque for £5 and they will send you back a list of all the owners of the car along with a copy of the V5's.

You may be able to trace the owners from there [:)]

I have just replaced the R/H with a genuine Porsche part to find the Sill that was declared as replaced, was the original!!

Hi Barrie, good to see you managed to register! [:)]

Is it possible that the sill was replaced with a genuine full sill, and fitted exactly as it would have been at the factory? It would be unusual for a replacement to rust again, though, and a repair to the outer would have been obvious when you had the work done.

Assuming the bill is genuine, I wonder if it could be the plastic sill trims, and they just called it the sill? Only an idea, but possible I guess. [8|]
