HOLD function

I was invited to a experience day yesterday @ longcross in surrey.
Drove the 718 Boxster PDK.
What came out of that was, the HOLD function works if you press the brake pedal hard, not just on an incline.
Also the car did not have chrono, but you could still do 'a soft launch control' (sport mode, foot on brake, foot flat on accelerator, 5000 rpm, lift foot of brake, away you go) old news I'm sure.

My question is, my car is a Cayman 981 PDK.
Pressing hard on the brake pedal does not make the HOLD function work, only on inclines.
So would launch control work, don't really want to try and get to 8000 rpm and go no where! (is it connected with the HOLD function)

Any thoughts

I went to this on Wednesday and apart from finding the 718 pretty near as fast as my 981S was impressed with circuit .not been there before

the hold function as shown certainly isn’t on my 981S with all the bells and whistles and only launches as I’ve got sport Chrono I believe

I tried depressing the foot-brake firmly but all I did was get cramp in my calf. NB. PDK vehicle.

As far as I am aware the "Hold" function only comes into play when the car is on an upward incline. This it does automatically so as you do not have to hold the car using the foot-brake or the electric handbrake. This as you are aware allows the driver to be ready to drive away without having to disengage the electric handbrake or switch your right foot from foot-brake to accelerator.

I've a feeling somone on the Macan forum mentioned that you could use this function in traffic (not necessarily on an incline) so that you can take your foot off the brake pedal and avoid the stoplights blinding the driver of the car behind. Such an annoying habbit..!

Just come across this: http://www.porscheownersmanuals.com/2017-718-cayman-manual/17/121/Using-the-drive-off-assistant

And yes the hold function can be activated whilst stationary at any time.

Information The HOLD function can be activated, irrespective of the gradient, by flooring the pressed brake pedal while the vehicle is stationary. This keeps the vehicle at a standstill without the brake pedal having to be pressed continuously. A quick change of the PDK selector-lever position does not deactivate the HOLD function in this case.
