Really excellent Le Mans, home last night with car full of wet tent, vile clothes and Porsche curves grass.R20 convoy home to blighty safe and without speeding fines though the radar man on the bridge on the A16 caused some anxiety. The campsite was fun and brilliantly organised as usual, very secure with some great people. Thanks Bob Lovelace and all your colleagues for working as hard as you do.
Thanks R20 Team London for your company guys, good to meet Adam and Claire, Dylan and Co and great BBQ Chris.
The race was especially good this year, brilliant that Astons beat the Corvettes again and that the Spyders lasted the course. Hope it can all happen again next year.
Look forward to the pictures Kish.
See you at Fatboys.

John

Well put John (tour guide extraordinaire) [;)] My first trip to Le Mans but hope to do it all again next year. Big thanks to all those that put in the hard work on the campsite. Thanks to the R20 gang for making it such a laugh. cheers

Echoing John's posting, this was areally excellent event. My second (and by far the drier) visit to Porsche curves. Organisation was brill, company was excellent, weather was lenient. I'm endebted to Kish for allowing us to tag along with R20 - what a fine collection of heroes! The convoys made a good trip all the more enjoyable. Some nice cars around, too. Hope I can make it next year, but in a different Porsche. Anybody want to buy a fabulous low mileage 997 2S? Hope to see you all soon Jon

Guys, Thanks to all of you for making our first trip to Le Mans both enjoyable and memorable. Organisation was first rate and tagging along with you made for a very pleasant drive, even if we did take in half of rural France on route ! Thanks also for including us in so many of your plans, particularly Greek night where the food was first rate. Hope to join you all again next year. Stuart

Sounds like a good time was had by all. Looking forward to joining you guys next year!

Big thanks 'R20 Pit Crew' for your good humour, friendship, organisation, advice and supporting us newbies through this PCGB rite of passage. You made a good holiday into an excellent and memorable one. Had a bit of panic removing the 'Pit Crew' decal from the bonnet until I remembered the hair dryer trick. Fave moments: [ul][*]Revving it up with the TVRs in the Rouen tunnel [*]Perforated ear drums due to Corvettes [*]Michelin starred R20 BBQ [*]That 'car revving at night bloke' passing out immediately after Jon had given him some friendly advice [*]Putting up the R20 flag post [*]Flooring it up hill near the Loire Valley [*]Slippery Arnage corner in the morning which kept the marshalls busy putting cars back the track. [*]Finding the toilets were clean - every time![/ul] I could go on for a long time.... Here's a group photo will all my favourite people - the whole crew! Jan & Jez ------------------

Hi All, What an excellent five day trip - thoroughly enjoed myself. I have already received a letter from Travel Destinations for 2009 -.don't forget we've promised 20 cars for 2009!!!! I would just like to say thanks to PCGB and all their helpers and of course all new and old R20 members for making it such a laugh. Roll on Oct 2008 and the French week-end.

Chris , Exactly - you've been hiding! I took 20 photos and you avoided being in any of them. All I got was your empty chair. Can anyone supply a photo of Chris as our star BBQ chef? Jan

Flag Team London, couldn't believe the number of people who thanked us for putting this up as it served as a good landmark to get back to their tents.

All makes welcomed at Camp PCGB

Hi Guys & Jessica, I have just got round to catching up on e mails etc and thought I would have a nose at our adopted group the R20's & Dillon gang. We would like to thank everyone very much for looking after us and I really do mean it as you all made the trip extreamly memerable and turned it into the good memory that we wanted. We were both really nervous about meeting everyone at Maidstone and didn't know what to expect., but from the start you all made us feel extreamly welcome even down to providing the Pit crew stickers (thanks Kish), the sticker is still on the car now, along with the grass etc from the campsite (at least it wasn't mud). I have just picked up the tip about the hairdrier so will tackle it tomorrow. We set off to our next location which was 1/2 hour away from Samura in the Loire Valley, this was a beautiful B&B in quite a remote location and we where gagging to have a good shower and get changed out of our hoodies and combats. We struggled with the first couple of days as the weather was poor, and we had no TV, no DVD player, no magazines and Claire had finished her book so we ended up drinking the local produce again ! Our liver really needs a break !! After a couple of days the weather picked up and we adjusted to the slow French pace and really enjoyed the place. Even though we REALLY struggled with the language reading the Menu's (It makes you feel very ignorant, our fault I know). We had a day and a night in Rouen, which was nice and the B&B was stunning then proceeded back through the tunnel stopping off at my brothers for the nighht in Leighton Buzzard. We eventually got home on 21st June very tired and needing our home comforts. We picked up straight away our furry child Lily MO (Our Chihuahua) which Claire had been really missing. All in all 1650 miles Oouch !! I absolutley loved the french roads, empty perfect tarmac, superd ! But coming home and then hitting the M25, what the hell is that motorway all about ! Thanks for :- - car sticker - convoy - navigation - information - Greek BBQ - good race spot (Dunlop Bridge) - Sunday meal (The mill) - and of course the superb company. Great memories, thanks................................................................................Adam & Claire If I'm being honest I don't think we will be able to afford the October trip to France as it will be 1000 miles + for us Northerners and we are going to Marbella in Septemer for an expensive weekend for Claires Brothers 30th. We would really like to meet up with you again and to do a French trip in the new year March/April if you go again as it was great to meet you and good to use the car also to enjoy some good roads !

Hi Adam, Claire, Thanks for the kind words...just a quick reply about France trip, yes we will do another Spring trip next year, it is an annual event we have been doing for 2 years running now... All the best and keep in touch; I see we are already facebook friends [:)] Kish

Couldn't resist resurrecting this thread to congratulate Rod on a superbly written piece in this month's PP [;)] Nice one, what good memories!
