...after a great trip through the South of GB in my 993 Cabrio. Starting in Dover, on to Greenwich, over to Castle Combe -roof open all the time- to a well prep´d barbecue. Well done, Rich. Seeing a few more forum regulars there, the 50th anniversary about to come up. Friday night in Cirencester, the worst "Italian" food possible, at least the wine was in bottles, they couldn´t f*** that up. (Quote by a well known poster of this forum) Then to the bar at the R.A.C., I heard about a few hooligans singing Queen songs way after the bar had closed.
Sat at the 50th anniversary at the R.A.C. (looks like Hogwarts actually!) very quite - set up only for me and Des that day? Good chance to see every car at the Coy´s auction and to have a chat here and there without too many people around.
Sunday lovely after a few light showers, all of a sudden people showed up at the anniversary! I have never attended a British car meeting before, I enjoyed it very much. It´s so relaxed and enjoyable to be there. Rest of the week in Somerset at a very nice B & B in the country side (Lower Godney!) with rides on the country roads, a trip to the sea, to the Cheddar gorge, to the the Fleet Air Arm museum (very good) and a visit at the Haynes`Motor Museum with the Gruppenführer (and his dogs), RSGulp and the Red Baron. Obviously the forum has spread its wings over Europe.
Way back through the South of GB to Dover, pouring rain then from Belgium to the first part of Germany and on the final 200 km I blew away the coal on the valves that might have been there after a week with speed limits.
It was a journey to remember, thanks to all involved. I´m ready to return the favour anytime, I hear there are plans for next year.[]
