I am having trouble setting up my homelink to open my German made garage door opener. Have meiculously followe instructions in hand book and get the system to work once then it loses the code ( door system has changing code) .

Have contacted my OPC but no ideas yet.

Can anybody help.

I too am having trouble getting my car to accept the remote signal, again tried several times varieing methods but no joy and as i live 2 hours from my opc haven't got them to try it yet.
Anyone else having trouble?
 
My homelink is working fine but it is quite an old door unit. There was a lot of chat about programming problems on the Rennteam 997 board . www.rennteam.com

I too have had this problem. Despite hours of investgations by the OPC I have found what the problem is.

I have a year old Hormann door opener on my garage door and some other make on my electric gates.

The problem is with the frequency range that the Homelink system operates with. In essence it is not compatible with some door/gate openers. I spoke to the Homelink manufacturere in Germany and they had no imminent plans to resolve.

To make it work you would have to buy a seperate unit and attach it to your door opener.

This would probably cost around £100, which I found rather annoying on top of the expense of the Homelink option.

What I have done now is to get an extra remote box (as smaller one as possible, as there are a few models) and bluetac it to the sunvisor. Not ideal, but it works.

I have now sorted out my problem. Homelink help site were no help. Finally I got in touch with the UK importers of my German garage door machine, Seip UK. They were extremely helpful an although according to homelink my Seip unit was compatible it clearly was not. Seip UK sold me (£120) an updated receiver for my machine. Programming worked first time. If I had known beforehand all the aggro and expense I would not have bothered to order Homelink ( oh the joys of spec)

The pocket gizmos from the door makers are good and a fraction of the price.

I've tried it with my gen 1, found that each time I re-trained it, it would work the first time but failed subsequently, I put this down to the code cycling used in the garage door remote mechanism.

I found that homelink had a module (around £50) you could wire into the garage door unit which would should have worked, it basically provided a second ( homelink sensitive ) receive which could electrically trigger the garage door.

This goes back a couple of years, I wonder if the update to homelink lets it handle code cycling?

 
I got Homelink on my 2007 Gen I 997tt to work with my garage door but had no luck with my gates. The remote for the gates would not transmit a signal long enough for the Homelink system to capture it.
 
Had homelink on my 997tt work garaged door fine but electric gates not compatible need different small printed link to circuit board depending on make of electric motor for electric gates
 
I had all this with my prior vehicle - an RS4. which had Homelink fitted.

I had to add 'Homelink compatible' SEIP receivers to my gates (which were new so right frequency - annoying but simply incompatible) and my garage door (which to be fair was an old 200-odd MHz unit). It worked faultlessly.

My 997 didn't have Homelink and since it's not retrofittable, I did it myself by buying the two buttons for the overhead panel, and hard-wiring them to a small remote key fob which I hid behind the panel. Looks OEM except that they're not illuminated - could be done but didn't want to get into warranty wrangle. Also it's never missed a beat.
 
Thanks everyone for the comments. In general, the HomeLink sounds a bit flaky. I spoke to Porsche today and they said it would take 30-60 minutes to diagnose (diagnose what?!?) and they may have to send an engineer to my house to look at it. Of course, that would be very expensive, as essentially you are taking that person away from another job (does that mean I have to pay twice)? Overall, while it would be lovely to press a button that actually exists in the car, I am not sure I need to spend hundreds of pounds for the privilege....
 
Solved!! Homelink website provided necessary answers. All to do with rolling code, but after pressing every button six times and walking around the car 3 times clockwise and skipping once anticlockwise, all working.
