Honda respray - mainly for 944man

Warning - no Porsche content.... [:D]

Some of you may remember when I bought This car in late 2008. It made an appearance at Silverstone last summer

I was looking to get it painted & thanks to a tip from Simon (944man) it was done a couple of weeks ago. It's not a concours job, but that's largely down to the limited amount of prep work, and the slightly rushed timescales (Trackday at Cadwell last week..)

Anyway, I thought I'd put up a couple of pics - just some crummy cameraphone snaps, but I'm sure you get the general idea

Before (with a few new panels)

If anyone in the Derby area is looking for paint, I'd recommend Jimmy. Obviously a full-on glass out respray will cost more, and he'll take on all sorts of work, but for the money I paid (£250 + paint @ £120) I think I got a great job.

That looks great. Much better than the old patch-work quilt effect [8D]

That's a very reasonable price for a respray!

Think it looks more of a Q car in white - not sure why!

Is the lens clean on your phone - looks filthy

hope to see it on track sometime this year.

I'm sure it needs a clean :)

I have a close ratio / LSD box being rebuilt at the moment - should be ready for my annual 'ring trip in May :)

I'll certainly be up for another forum evening out at Silverstone in the summer

White was the original colour - I resisted the temptation to add the original livery...

Jimmy is extremely experienced when it comes to red paint... [:D]

Im glad that youre happy and that the work was completed as promised to me originally. Of late I have been concerned that JK's father is exerting too much influence, and I was worried that he would undermine Jimmy's quote (and mine too, for that matter, as Im having similar on my 924S, if it ever gets completed).

Hmm, very interesting. Where is Jimmy based & do you have contact details? The Toyota race car would benefit from a partial re-spray. I might also be able to put some other work his way, if he was interested.

He's in Wirksworth - so not far away. Very nice chap, can't do enough for you...

I think he's basically trying to build up his business into something he can pursue full-time, and word of mouth referrals are probably the best way of doing that. If anyone wants to come over & have a look at my car feel free.

I am very tempted by CSCC - but don't have the cash this year. If work goes well this year, I hope to be making an appearance in 2012. Need to do ARDS, get race suit etc.. & a few other bits. The other Honda in the pic races in N&SCC - only a 1600, but on that track day did a best lap of 1.42.5! (There is a fair amount of money in that car though..it's more powerful than mine, very close ratio LSD box, and appreciably lighter) I only got a few laps on film & was running around 1.49 /1.50. Part of that gap is his driving [:D] Pete is using 15's with 205 section tyres, which were brand new. I have 185/55/14 worn out A048's, which must cost several seconds a lap. His car also pulls out a big gap exiting Barn as he has an LSD, where my inside front just spins... I guess I would be quicker if I hit a few apexes though [:(]

Some video
Filmed from my car
My car from a quicker one.. (Pete's dad driving in the second half of this, which is why he doesn't just pull away into the distance [:)] )

Will be off to the 'ring in late May, with a new closer ratio box & LSD [:D] (as long as it gets built in the next two weeks) Hope to put in an appearance or two at Silverstone track evenings as well.

I might come along to spectate on May 8 at Donington, and will probably be there the week before at the historics - looks like there will be some great cars that weekend.

Thanks for the contact info. If you do come to Donington to spectate on 8 May do come & say "Hi"; I'll be the nervous one walking backwards & forwards near the white Toyota #48.

People are welcome to contact Jimmy directly, of course, but they may find that it is in their interest to contact me first; and let me take it up with Jimmy initially, on their behalf.
