Hood covers

Hi all. Does anyone have any practical experience of using hood covers such as those sold by Classic Additions or Cabrio Shield as advertised in P/P?

My pride and joy is now getting on for 11 years old and unfortunately has to live outside in all weathers. I was thinking one of these might prolong the life of the hood (it's still in pretty good nick) but I wonder whether dampness might do more harm if the hood is not totally dry before use. Also do they fit and stay on Ok when the wind is blowing a gale?

Used one on my Elise and have just bought one for my Boxster Spyder. They are very good but i only fit mine when the hood is dry.
