Howdie Folks

Sorry if this ones been covered already but I am new on here. I believe you cannot fit a later model hood with glass window to an earlier hood frame that is designed for the plastic window because of the number of hoops in the frame ??

If thats true, can you fit the later model frame and hood to a car that was originally fitted with a hood with plastic window?

Cheers

I looked at this when I had my Boxster S but didn't get around to it.

I think the later 986 frame does fit but there are also alternative hoods which have the glass screen and heating elements, unless you wish not to use non-Porsche.

I've never seen one and the rear screen does look a little small but several companies do then check Google but best to see one that is already fitted.

Kay checkout the plastic screen replacement at top of Boxster page several have had replacement hoods.

I have a 986 and have the BAS international hood with glass window fitted to my early boxster frame, it's outstanding and I can't believe I didn't replace the plastic windowed roof before! Once you have one you will ask yourself the same question. If you fit the relay which lets you raise and lower the roof while driving at slow speed you effectively have the same spec as the latest Boxsters

I live in the highlands of scotland so I Contacted BAS and they recomended a mobile fitter he was very good and quick. I would suggest you contact them and find out who they recommend near you. The other option is it you fancy a trip to south Wales they will fit the hood for you in about 2 hours.
