Hood Treatment

Renovo is good stuff, but can be fiddly to apply and sometimes uneven coverage can create a shaby looking roof. Autoglym is OK, some consider it quite good, others less so I've used Scotchguard Heavy Duty water repellent spray on both my Boxsters for 6 years now and i find it very good for repellency and for longevity. Bit of a pain having to cover the car over with old blankets etc to spray the roof, but you have to take similar precautions with most products. I tried Fabsil spray once, nowhere near as good as the Scotchguard.

I would appreciate members views on the various treatments for Hood reproofing. In the past I have tried the Porsche Spray Treatment which was ok for a while but it did not really enhance the look of the hood in any way. I have looked at Renovo - any comments?

I used Renovo brush on last year and it did a brilliant job on a roof thats getting to the end of it's life. So impressed I will use it on the new roof when needed and you get a big can from Millets for about £15.

Hi Arran, I use the Autoglym cabriolet fabric hood cleaning kit which only cost £19.99 I must say that I find it really easy to use.

Thank you very much for the comment - at least I can have an educated go at it this time. Cheers!

Which ever product you use don't use the spray product - it goes everywhere and is a job to get an even finish on the fabric. Stick to the Brush products - go to a good hardware store and save money on Auto product which are usually the same but just priced up to catch the motorist![;)]

Used Renovo on a very "tired" Smart car roof.. came up fantastic .. so would have to give it my vote
