Hood won't go down!

Wife wanted me to take her shopping and as the weather was good, the hood HAD to come down. This it did but the cover refused to lock in place. I could hear a clicking from offside. Raised the hood up and tried again with same result. Clicking again and then it stopped. Now the hood refused to raise. As suspected, the fuse had blown. Replaced the fuse and the hood raised up and locked. Didn't try to drop the hood again as I didn't want to do any further damage. I suspect that I've got a sticking motor. Few questions;

Is there a manual method to lower and raise the hood?
What's the likely cause given the description of clicking noises?
Anyone recommend someone who could investigate the problem without costing proverbial arm and leg?

thanks

The roof is a pretty complicated bit of kit, and everything has to happen in sequence for it to operate. If it stops part way through the cycle, it won't advance, but it should reverse. I think the first thing you should do is check the fluid level. This is in a clear reservoir on the bottom of the hydraulic pump behind the rear seats.

If you look in your manual, you will find the process for manual operation. It is a real faff, so you don't want to be doing it too regularly.
