Hopefully a 3.2 on the way

Have hopefully sold my trusty SC and purchasing LHD Venetian Blue 3.2 88 vintage, nice low miles, linen leather. Just hope it is as nice as described. V excited!! Only one thing it has a "cat" is this easy to remove and will effect my emmisions for MOT etc and bring the hp up from 217bhp. Is there anything I can do to the ECU to boost output. All advice gratefully received.
 
You need to establish if you have a Eurospec or USA spec Carrera - the 217 output you mention is for USA 930/25 (1987 - 1989) - if so, it is an engine rebuild to get it up to the 231 for Eurospec. Your chassis number will have ABO / EBO (coupe/cab-targa) after the WPO for USA or ZZZ for Euro.

A Eurospec car with a cat is not a problem - leave it there.
 
Thanks for the advice. It is a Euro spec originating from Switzerland and is the 217 cat version. I realise the gear ratios are a bit different but to be honest I am not a massive speed merchant, i just enjoy the looks and a chilled drive.
 
Tony, I realise you are the 3.2 man, and i am pretty confident what to look for having already owned an SC, but would you have any more words of wisdom regarding the 3.2. Many thanks Dan
 
The Swiss Carreras use 930/26 which still produces 231 bhp. There is very little difference in the engine compared to a 930/20. FYI - my book details the differences.

217 bhp would be a low compression engine - only used in USA spec cars.
