Hello all. Received this e-mail and wondered if anyone can help with either sourcing the material or a supplier for the material. (or even whole seats in the same colour if not the same material!)

Dear Paul,

I require a set of seats for my c1982 924.
The car has only done 60,000 miles and only lived in this lane with two previous lady owners who must
have got in and out of it 60,000 times ! The seats are that Houndstooth pattern in brown wooly stuff which material is not now available for repair. Therefore the only option is to find a good set of seats.
I don't mind if they are brown leather which was an option I think, or just the plain leatherette. Someone must be breaking one up somewhere with good seats. I'll send a pic of seats separately so you can see
the colour of interior. Must try to get it back on the road for this summer ! Any assistance appreciated.

There was a chap at Henfield who broke up Porsches, "James' Porsche", but he doesn't seem to be there anymore and the other garage doesn't know where he went to or if he just packed up. Do you know ?

Tim

If anyone can help Tim then reply here or send me a PM.

Thanks [:)]

Have they tried Southbound for the material? If it's not available then a set of seats from the usual breakers or e-bay would be the easy way to go, although getting a good set might take time. Presume he only actually needs one front seat?

Or, if cost is less of an issue why not re-cover the seats in something nicer? [8|]

if the seats arenot ripped but just worn and faded you could do an old VW Golf trick. In early Mk1 Golfs where the material was no longer available we unpick the seat cover and turn it inside out. Voila - new cloth!
Other than that there was an article in one of the old Porsche mags about a firm who retrimmed Porsche seats. They were also at last year's TIPEC show where it rained all day... if I can find it I'll post it.

Best regards,

Paul, if you could get the guy to send a picture of the exact material, I have some spare pieces of the woven brown/tan material from c.'82, but if its just a couple of panels he needs to replace it might be enough.
