Horn Failure

Appear to have no low tone horn working at present, only the high note. Looked at my Porche Warranty book and it states horn is under warranty. Call the OPC and speak to a service advisor and explain the problem. Having booked the car in for a new horn to be fitted I ask for him to confirm that the work is covered by the warranty. Much to my suprise, after consulting his list of items under the warranty he tells me the horn is not covered. Has anyone had a horn replaced under the Porsche warranty ?
Thanks for any info.

Hi Seamus,

I have a 98 996 and one of my horns (they are a twin tone I believe) failed. Still sounded but very weakly.

OPC in Stratford London replaced it under warranty a few months back.

Hope this helps.

Cheers,

Rob

Rob,
Just what I was hoping to hear. Just shows that the service advisors are not up to speed on warranty T&C's. Many thanks for the response.

Several of us had our horns fix/replaced at PC West London last week as part of a free health check organised for the London regional members. It can't be that expensive or time consuming as ours were fixed/replaced as we waited next to the car for free... I am not sure if they were fixed or replaced though.

Seamus, I recently bought a 2nd hand GT3, put it through the 111 point OPC check, inorder to get a warranty. They requested that i attend to the horn first as it was weak.... it cost about £58 for the horn module, plus a bit of labour. Now I have a full warranty, I hope its now covered.

Having asked the OPC service advisor to look at this again, I got a call this morning to tell me that the horn is under the warranty. I will certaintly be asking for a second opinion on any future warranty issues. Thanks to all who replied to original post.

Hi. I have 996 (2003). Lost the low horn following washing the car. The low horn is fixed within the front spoiler and faces upwards. If you're not careful washing the car you can get water into it. This water then just sits in the horn and renders it useless - as it has nowhere to go. I had mine replaced under warranty @ OPC; more importantly they positioned the new one so that it faces the ground. No problems since! Hope this helps.
