Horn sounds weedy

I used the horn on my 03s today and thought it sounded a bit weedy, can't recall using it before but it definately doesn't sound as strong as my 3 series BMW or my sons Clio for that matter.

Anyone else found the same?

yes (especally now i have a very agresive looking car)it almost embaressing, but last time i mentioned this on this forum i got shot down in flames for daring to say something other than praise for my Box[&o]

A couple of times after i've washed my car the horn has sounded weedy. This was due to water getting into one of the two horns (one of the horns opens upwards). This usually happens when washing the wheel arches. The recent heavy downpours coupled with driving in very wet conditions may have caused this.

Could be another reason though (eg. wire come loose from one of the horns).

[8D]Not being a horny type driver or anything but have to agree it's not very vocal or manly sounding [;)]

it's not the loudness so much as it being rather polite and frankly girly.
That's exactly right! Compare it then to Italian cars with their light and informative tones (blowing ones horn in Italy is not an aggressive act, but more often just to let other road users know where you are), and then English cars with their perturbed and irritated tones. It's a reflection of the culture, a very German "Pardon me, but you have just crossed me off".

Now, I'm off to get coffee and laugh at JCB's "teutonic" pun, then it's back to the spookiness...
