Horn sounds when locking car

If it is a single beep, it means that one of the compartment lids is open, or the radio contact has been disconnected. 9 times out of 10, the centre console compartment isn't shut quite properly.

Hi I have a 1994 Boxster Anniversary. Recently when I lock the car with the fob, the horn gives a short honk after about 5 seconds. Any ideas. Thank you J

ORIGINAL: georgewlfoster My car always gives a short honk when locked on the fob. Surely that's common to all?
That is not the norm it should be silent

Thanks for getting back so quickly. I checked it out and you're right. The central console was closed but the catch hadn't engaged. Pity you've got to wake up the neighbourhood or such an insignificant thing!! I've another question. How do you get out of manual mode if you press the tiptronic streering buttons in error? Thank you J

From the manual (hint [;)]): "The system leaves manual selection mode: - automatically after approx. 8 seconds (unless corning or overrunning) - if you depress the accelerator to kickdown - after moving off."
