I drove the car yesterday and when I switched ignition off the fan stayed on the only way to stop was to take out fuse.
Has anyone else had this and how do you solve.

Also rear wiper has stopped working any ideas how to fix

thanks in anticipation

Do you mean the cabin fan?
If so I had a similar problem with a 944 - it turned out to be the ignition switch still making contact. This would sometimes happen after I left the car - and the battery would be flattened.

If you mean the engine fan then ignore above [:D]

The blower is controlled by the 'blower control unit' according to the circuit diagram. This unit has 12 connections !, and two connections both go to the engine compartment blower and may make it run.

Trying to locate a diagram of the blower control unit, but either thats not working, or you have a short.

http://www.dietersmotorsports.com/tech/2001/03-01_911_heater.htm has some info.

It seems as if the control unit can turn on the fan if it thinks the engine is getting too hot, so maybe a sensor is goosed

Assuming that fuses are OK. Here is what caused my wiper to stop.
Remove the cover from the wiper motor being careful to catch any loose bits.
Check that the brushes are in contact with the commutator; The tension on these brushes is achieved by a spring, which is attached via a fibre insulating washer at one end. The washer can fail with age and so releases the tension on the brushes. Replace washer if necessary with a suitable fibre or plastic one of same size.

Check the fuses in the engine compartment. I even had to replace the whole fuse block assy once. I'm pretty sure this kept the heater running as unbelievable as it sounds.
