Hot front wings.., is it normal ?

Hi,

I'm the new owner of a high milage (159K) 04 Cayenne Turbo.

Got a couple of things to soft out (if I'm being fussy), but when I got home yesterday I happened to notice that both front wings were very hot, far hotter that the bonnet... is this normal ?

Sounds like it could be a brake problem, check them out first. I could of course be wrong.

If that's the only symptom i don't think I'd worry. There's a lot of radiators and hoses under there + depending how long it's been running, a lot of heat sink.
Just keep an eye out for other issues.

My KN S did that.
One side got hotter than the other, I think that under the front wing is where the AC exchangers are situated, so on a hot day with the AC running you get a build up of heat in the wheel arch area, especially if you don't have much air flow (such as in traffic). The heat goes up and soaks into the wing.
Are the wheels REALLY hot too? If they are I'd go with brakes, if not then it won't be the brakes.

Check you brakes unles you have driven it hard they should not be very hot
If they are that may be your problem

A/C will produce high heat in exchangers especially in this weather (UK)

Also remember you will get water as this is dropped under car

Is A/C working well - make sure all you drain pipes are unblocked - A/C on critical as it will leak into car

Is hood aluminium and steel wings? Different metals and different heat retention.
