Hot stuff...

After I have had a run in the car (1990 Carrera 4 LHD) - the rear wings are very hot. I remember someone saying that heat from the engine vents from the rear wings but is it normal for them to get so warm?

Thanks!

Colin,

During the warmish weather recently the chances are that you've had the heating set to "Cold" - or even had the a/c on - and under these conditions the hot air from the heat exchangers does, indeed, get vented to the wheel wells. It's perfectly normal.

Regards

Dave

As dave says, completely normal.
So is the smell of burning rubber, if you've got the secondary silencer on, after a decent, spirited run.

Also dont forget that the oil tank is just behind the rear wing and will have all that hot oil dissipating its heat through.

Yes, I test drove on the other day and the rear wings were discoloured and we thought it might have been the heat from the engine causing this but I now think there was new paint on the doors. We were amazed how hot the wings got though.
