I thought I'd share this with you all.
I've just fitted side light bulbs to my 944 (old bumper style - not Turbo or S2). Instead of usining T4W bulbs that are the normal fitment - I've used a pair of H6W. The base is exactly the same in size and shape, although the pin arrangement is slightly different. I needed to file one of the pins off the H6W bulbs as the T4W has the pins opposite one another and the H6W has the pins at the 12 O'Clock and the 5 O'Clock positions.
Even with one pin filed off the fit was fine. The lamps are noticably brighter than any T4W that I have tried [
]. Here's a link to the Philips H6W's I used; http://www.ruderacing.co.uk/Bulbs-H6W_Bulbs/c3848_3860/p558970/Philips_Blue_Vision_Bulbs_(H6W)/product_info.html
