Hot tip about side light bulbs

I thought I'd share this with you all.

I've just fitted side light bulbs to my 944 (old bumper style - not Turbo or S2). Instead of usining T4W bulbs that are the normal fitment - I've used a pair of H6W. The base is exactly the same in size and shape, although the pin arrangement is slightly different. I needed to file one of the pins off the H6W bulbs as the T4W has the pins opposite one another and the H6W has the pins at the 12 O'Clock and the 5 O'Clock positions.

Even with one pin filed off the fit was fine. The lamps are noticably brighter than any T4W that I have tried [:D]. Here's a link to the Philips H6W's I used; http://www.ruderacing.co.uk/Bulbs-H6W_Bulbs/c3848_3860/p558970/Philips_Blue_Vision_Bulbs_(H6W)/product_info.html

I used these in my sidelights

Ebay 190298210163

But if you do a search for 23w BA9 HALOGEN CLEAR BULB you can buy ten for £7 plus P&P
Also available in orange which are used in quite a few motorcycle indicators.

Cheers,

Those ones on ebay even have the pins in the right place! Only concern is 23W - when standard is suposed to be 4W. How does the wiring stand up?

No problem with the wiring. The guage of the wire used for the sidelights is the same as the wire used for the driving lights (50 watt bulbs).

Cheers,
