How big can a Cayman engine go?

Ask Duncan Andrews at Westwood Cylinders in Bromsgrove. His Cayman is punched-out as far as it can go I think.

He sells the parts needed too!

Graham.

It looks like Westwood, along with others such as Hartech, get to 3.9 basically by expanding the bore. . DeMan appear to include a longer stroke crank for an additional 600cc plus a close ratio gear box. Very serious money as well, but I suppose when you have more performance than a GT3RS it could make sense on a 'bang for buck' basis.

It has considerable appeal for me.

John,

I’ve not been to the Hartech site for a while but I think their 3.9L is based on the 987.1 engine, with the cylinders being replaced by Nikasiled inserts which also form a closed top-deck.

As you say, the DeMan option looks like a thoroughly reworked 9A1 3.8L engine. With the close-ratio gearbox it looks like a real beast … at a price!

Ehresmann seem to be the go-to place for European modding, but I don’t think that they’re offering any capacity changes?

Jeff
