First of all, sorry for the dramatic thread title!! It's not going to be as exciting as it sounds!! []
For a little while I have wondered just how close to the end of 944 production mine was produced. I think it must have been pretty close to the last ones. My evidence is thus:
1. It has a bridge spoiler.
2. It is Cobalt Blue.
3. The delivery date in the log book is 18/03/92 to AFN Porsche.
4. The last 4 numbers on the VIN are 0495.
5. It has classic grey interior (not seen this on older cars but could be wrong!).
According to Wikipedia, the total production volume for 1991 was 3118. Some sources suggest that the last 510 were produced in the Stuttgart factory. Mine was definitely not a Stuttgart produced one (the 11th number is an "N" for Neckarsulm and not an "S") so is it safe to say it was 495 of 2608?
Any idea what the production throughput at the Neckarsulm was? Seems amazing to me that it took until March 1992 to get the car to the UK. Cool that somebody picked it over a 968
