How do I find out my build date month

check the manufacturing date on the tyres (4 digits, WeekYear so 0407 is week 4 2007) or check some of the plastic components for their dates - ashtray and its liner are a good bet. All will be within a few weeks of assembly date

Cheers mate. Tyres are end of last year (week 49) boot strut at back is 04/08, no dates on any plastics that I can see! I seem to recall the salesman saying april 08 build but I thought there would be a mark on the car.

US car have a sticker on the door or door sill. You can see this one was made November 1996. Thought UK cars also have such a sticker.

UK cars don'r have a sticker that says the car conforms to your laws, with the VIN on the sticker?

Yeah, no build month, don't even think it has a year! None of paperwork states anything either! Only first reg date in UK.

Toolpants, I'm an aussie and we have a plate like you guys do in the States that details production month, year and compliance to aussie laws and standards.

Uk only really gives you VIN number.

I just wanted to know the date for my records. The salesman said April but a little too quickly for me to completely take it as true.

Jase.

When did you collect the car (was it UK or Factory). They don't keeep them hanging around long so you can probably work it out [:)]

My March 17th car was built February 15th if that helps you workout time from manufacture to delivery [:D]

I think I got the build date on some paperwork I was given at the time

So if there was a recall for car made June-July 2007 you would not know if you were subject to the recall without checking the VIN. Porsche also issues bulletins for things like the improved front trunk microswitch started production January 2000, but does not designate a starting VIN.

You can buy a certificate of authenticity from Porsche but it is expensive. Get the salesperson to pay for it....

Don't know if you can do this in the UK. In the US I can ask the parts guy to put my VIN in the computer. It has all the info on my car. When it was sold. When the warranties expired. The options. Engine and transmission serial numbers. And other stuff. But it does not tell you when the car was built.

The other thing, and I do not know if they do this on the 987. There is a date on the engine lid. You can see January 24, 2007 and my VIN sticker says my car was made in January 1997. It has been said this January 24th date is the day then drivetrain was put in the car and it was "born." I do not know what is the January 10th date. There is also a date on the carpet above the engine lid.

A few years ago this became an important bit of info 8 plus years after the car was made. I had a bad DME and could not do a smog inspection. In California we have an 8 year emission warranty from the date of sale. The service department computer said my car was sold January 2, 1997 and, if this was true I was past the 8 years. I am not the original owner. I knew the car could have not been sold January 2nd - it was not even built.

My service book had the correct date of March 24, 2007. I got a new DME under the 8 year emission warranty

I might be worng, but I think that is a Porsche USA thing - I've only ever seen it in US magazines...

My car was in stock in shrewbury Ness and happen to have my exact spec. So I wasn't advised of build dates etc prior to delivery.

Got it finally from my OPC, confirmed as 19 March 08. I picked up in June, how long does it normally take to get from factory to Sheerness/an OPC?
