How do I fix the Carrera name back on ?

After some serious cleaning this morning I found that as I leathered off the car the Carrera label on the engine cover was almost off and had loads of water underneath. (The black plastic logo). As I tried to dry it carefully with the leather it came off completely, and undamaged.

Having just looked at every type of glue in Halfords I can't figure out what to use !

Can someone kindly advise me how to re fix it. Thanks.

This is what I would try, a new one, they are not expensive or industrial strength double sided tape cut to fit. I've never heard of one coming off before so it may be an aftermarket job with lousy adhesive backing, don't use glue.

I feel sure that they come with double sided tape on already when bought from new - I have no evidence to back this up with, other than you would think they should[;)]

David,

Halfords stock a product called "Trim Repair" which is a double sided foam tape specifically for attaching badges etc. to bodywork. It's a bit of a pain to attach and cut around the badge (with a craft knife) but it works well.

Don't be tempted to use double sided sticky tape 'cause it will come off when it rains. There is also not enough adhesion to cope with the curvature of the body. The Trim Repair stuff is excellent.

Another tip is to clean both surfaces with meths or something like that (no tasting tho') then with the aid of the missus hair dryer GENTLY warm up all surfaces and warm up the double sided whatever, so as the "sticky" becomes "very sticky". Try and do this in the dry, guaranteed to work.[:)]
If not, console yourself with the meths [:'(].

I knew it! [;)] common sense prevails

Please note that that eBay part is a 993 part number and, despite assurances in the ad, it is NOT the same part fitted to the 3.2 or 964 (which are, I believe, the same). I know the 964 part (Part No 911.559.037.00) is substantially bigger and flatter than the 993 part and, unfortunately, no longer available to the best of my knowledge. Be very careful when buying badges like this since many of the sellers don't know what they are selling - including some very experienced companies who should know better.

Doing a similar search on Pelican for the older part number (911.559.037.00) would seem to imply that they can still supply it too.
