How do I get in???

Had a golfing weekend in cheshire this weekend so I thought what better than a blast up the A roads in the porker??[:D]

Unfortunately the aforementioned sw*ne had different ideas.[:mad:] It seems he had planned a relaxing weekend as he had obviously had a very tiring week draining the contents of his battery [8D]

So, on to my question, how the hell do I get my battery out without dropping the back seats and crawling through the boot???


 
Carefull use of jump leads negative to engine earth lead (rear of cylinder head), positive to the post near the vacuum reservoir (black plastic baked bean can sized thingy) rear left corner of engine bay (from front) - hopefully protected by a blue plastic screw-off cover.

Cheers, do you know what the correct battery size should be as PET shows four ranging from 50 - 75AH
 
Not sure on the size but Halfords do a good one, calcium with a good guarantee (4 years?) it also has a connection for the vent pipe. It was higher capacity than the Porsche one I took out and smaller/lighter, fitting with the optional clamp fixing hole.

measure it and get the highest cranking power you can get. IIRC, if you look in the "books" in the auto-factors, the 944 battery and 968 are different. It's only the cranking power which is better on the 968 (the sizes are the same, so get that one!).
 
Duplicate positive terminal? Blue plastic cover? Was this an option as my car does not appear to have one. I have the vacumn reservoir but nothing resembling a terminal. It would be very useful if it did, but unless it's staring me in the face, doesn't appear to have one. Does anyone have a picture?

 
Earlier cars dont have them as the boot key pulled a cable rather than operating a microswitch, not sure if there was a chaneover period with a microswitch and no terminal
