how do i lock car without using the key fob.

just a quick ? to see if anyone can tell me how this can be done, when we go on the ferry to get abroad on our last car, we just locked it with the key, thus locking the car securely, but not switching the alarm system on, which had 2 uses as the metasat system would not send me texts saying my car was moving, and if it was a rough crossing the alarm would not keep being set off,
i would like to use this method when we go this year, but am unsure if this is possible with my porsche,
any help greatly appreciated.

Unfortunately you can't lock the car and disable the alarm system completely. Double-locking with the key remote or key lock will disable the interior monitoring sensor, but the door switches, lid switches, and tilt alarm, etc, will still be active.

The only thing I can suggest is disconnecting the tilt sensor, which is the device most likely to set off the alarm on a rough crossing.

thanks richard, i had been reading my manual but could only find what you have suggested, was hoping that there was a way that it could be done, but i shall just lock it with the fob, if the alarm goes off i will be about 6 decks away from it[:D]

I wouldn't worry about it - the decks will be full of cars with their alarms going off for the same reason.
