How do i remove the dash?

Prompted by EEE post on retrimming his dash, i have been thinking that vinyal panels of my dash could do with a bit of a revamp. I was intending to get some black plastic spray paint and give all the sections a good respary to try bring them back to life a little (and cover the 20 odd years of scratches). But before i jump straight in how difficult is it to remove the dash on a 89 S2 cabriolet? Are there any pitfalls i should be aware off?

Also, is the car driveable without the vinyl dash panels in situ - i wouldnt have thought so but i figure, i'd ask just in case.

I followed the guide from Clark's garage http://www.clarks-garage.com/shop-manual/body-24.htm which was good enough for. Make sure you keep a label on all screws, washer etc. so they go back in the right places. The biggest problem I had was some of the housings for the switches had become brittle over time and so things were easily snapped, fortunately the new dash had all the right bits I needed but worth taking extra care when performing this job. Allow a day for removal and a day for installation going at a nice gentle pace listening to radio 4 .. ;)
