How easy is it to lower the rear on the adjusters?

Ok, so I've got all my new suspension on and the front lowering springs too but now I want to drop the rear a little to level it out. Not a full on torsion bar re-index, just as far as the adjusters will let me go. I know what I have to adjust I just wondered if anyone here had done it before and how difficult it is/isn't or what to look out for?

Thanks in advance.

Really, the eccentrics are only there to allow you to fine tune; with real adjustment provided by the torsion bar splines. You may be able to get a small and equal adjustment, but it probably wont be nearly enough to satisfy you, particularly seeing that youve lowered the front too (Porsche raised the rear in order to meet fedral bumper height requirements, so theyre already jacked up at the back, even with standard front ride height).

Hi David, what suspension have you fitted( standard or upgrade)? what springs? I ask as this is next on my list and only read about coilovers etcon here. Any pics of how the front sits now?

Cheers Alan.

Fitted rear Koni adjustables and the fronts are M030 Koni height adjustables with new Koni adjustable inserts and Spax 30mm drop springs.

I got them lightly used from a member on here.

Will get some pics up soon.

Recently did both of mine, and still cannot get the Turbo S as i want it, how much graft and grief is involved in a torsion bar re index ?

not as hard as some people make out. Just remember to mark the origional position of the splines on the torsion bar relative to the spring plate and work from there.I have done loads of vw's and my own S2. I put min e up a bit while I was working on the back of the car and then back to standard while I am doing the sills etc,but will lower before it sees the road.

Right, even my impact wrench isn't shifting the nuts in the slightest. 180ft/lbs x 23 years = a lot!

Had to throw in the towel and speak to my garage who showed me the massive compressor, breezeblock sized impact gun, blowtorch and scaffolding pole they use to crack the tough nuts. Booked in for when I get back from holiday!

I have a 1 inch nut gun at work for such occasions. To quote Clarkson when you fire it up it sounds like God clearing his throat [:D]
