How far should it go

As I am driving the most perfect car there is. I have to try and find a fault. So while stuck in traffic on the way home from work, with the Bose system playing nicely, the air con on, and the roof 'wide open, I had a concern.

I have a 2002 Targa, and when the roof is open all the way (until it stops), does it indeed go back as far as it should or does it stop prematurely? It looks like it should go back further.

Thanks.

It just seems that it doesn't go fully back, and that the 'bulge' in the back edge is right in the line of sight of the rear view mirror. Msaybe if it went back further it would cause buffeting etc?

Looks the same as my 2004 Targa

Rear view in mirror is just about useless as it is looking through 2 layers of glass, with internal reflections, but saves having to dip the mirror at night

My rear window is tinted so when I have the roof down I cannot see a thing out of the rear!

Motor went bang on my roof, £2K bill []

As suggested by Davey, it probably doesn't go right back because it would increase the noise / buffetting.

I used to have a 3 series BMW & the standard position for the open sunroof was very quiet. But you could use the open / close switch to open it "fully" by holding it down - at which point the air in the cabin resonated to the point your ears would hurt.
I imagine all car companies start with the hope that the fully open position is OK for noise / buffetting - but adjust the actual open position during testing to minimise noise etc.
