How hard can it be.......................

Sold my 997 C4S in July and have been searching for a decent Gen II (2009 onwards) 987 Boxster S (or Cayman even) ever since. Spec preferred (but obviously flexible);

PSAM
Heated seats
Carrera Sport or Sport Design wheels
sub 40k mileage
Not - Red or white (and probable yellow)

Budget circa £23k

Prices were not suprisingly mental during our pleasant summer and have taken a pleasing downward turn over the last 4 weeks or so.....but still there seems to be very little on the market at the moment.

I'm doing my very best to be patient and not search through Pistonheads, Autotrader, E-bay, Boxa-net, 911UK, PCGB Forum more than 3 times a day.......also all the usual specialists, RSJ, 911Virgin, JZM etc etc.

Am I missing something, being too picky etc?? Should I just keep on looking? The scooter to the station is less fun now the rain has returned......I've even found myself looking at Lotus's :eek:

Good things come to those that wait![;)][;)]

I simply failed to find a decent Boxster S for sale when I was looking last year. Generally overpriced, wrong spec, terrible history, ignorant owners. So I increased the budget, bought a much newer Spyder with a great spec, no history worries and the residuals appear to be good enough to argue that it has been cheaper to run than a standard 987S. Might this be an option?

so you want a 987.2 S for 23k :)

when the cheapest Boxster S OPC car is 25k and the cheapest Cayman S is £31k

I have just found 60+ cars to choose from but not at £23k lol

Bit like me wanting a Ferrari F430 for 55k and cannot find one.

There is an approved used 2010 gen 2 Boxster S at OPC Cambridge with 30 odd thousand miles at £25k. It is green though.

You can't be that wide of the mark - you should find one soon enough.

Asking prices are one thing and final selling price is another

Offer your £23k on every single car that fits the bill and stand back and see if any dealer wishes to play ball

You may be very pleasantly surprised and bottom line is you can always go up but never down

Good luck

Never .....especially the RED ones they will always command a premium[;)][;)]

I am afraid I just think the budget is too low!- not by much but by a couple of thousand .
I have seen good gen 1 987s at opc for £23k very recently so chances of a gen 2 for that much is a bit hopeful I think ,but later in the winter then maybe......,

Wait another couple of months and the Porsche Centres will be wanting to get everything they can into the 2013 Sales figures.

They will be giving them away[;)]

I didn't miss it, as much as suggest that it should be increased!

That would make a private sale about £23k right?

Thankfully there are some more sensible (and not so rude) folk on here too. It was making me wonder, does everone else only buy from OPC's and always pay full list price ????

I've have seen the Cambridge one......but British Racing Green!!! Thought about it for about a minute when it was first posted last week, nice colour but not on a Boxster.

There's also the brown one......

....been for sale for months at a list price of £22,480!! Then there's the red one that Beck Evans can't shift even at a list price of £22,490;

http://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/advert/201306027077372/sort/default/usedcars/price-from/20000/maximum-mileage/up_to_40000_miles/engine-size-cars/3l_to_3-9l/maximum-age/up_to_5_years_old/price-to/25000/model/boxster/make/porsche/onesearchad/used/onesearchad/nearlynew/onesearchad/new/page/1/radius/1500/postcode/al23dn?logcode=p

And yet apparently I'm expecting too much to start my budget at £23k ????

rude !!!

to the point maybe, but not rude. :)

you can ask the OPC NOT to give you 2 years warranty and that will knock another 1k off the sticker price, but that might be see as rude ;-p

Higher milage Gen II's are now sub £20k;

taking into account;

- there's a new model out that everyone loves
- there's just been a reg change (63 plates)
- it's started raining
- winters on the way

.......I think I'd rather be a buyer right now than a seller of a Boxster.

you may be right !! Currently sitting in Porsche centre Mulhouse for a quick coffee and not a boxster s. 05 gen 1 987 on at £25 k !!
So at least you aren't trying to buy in Europe 😀

nope just saying if you find that dream car and the deal is not right ask for only 1 years warranty and that gets another 1k off the cars value.

Sorry - I meant Brian and John in the posts above mine seemed to have missed that you said that you had to increase budget!

OP - if they are at £25K AT OPCs already, you'll soon find one within your budget, especially, as stated above, with the winter fast approaching.

I personally wouldn't see PASM as a deal breaker on a used Boxster - I don't think it particularly brings anything to the party.
