How is central locking supposed to behave?

Hi,
Further to my thread on my passenger door lock - what is supposed to happen when you use the key in the passenger door to lock/unlock the car?

On the driver's door the key works the central locking, but on my passenger door the key has no impact on the central locking (it does not fire the central locking module). I'm not sure if this is a fault or if it's always been like this - I can't say that in 6.5 years I've ever tried the key in the passenger door until last night!

Thanks

It is designed to only work on the drives door.

As a side, the battery needs to be connected to enable central locking to work, hence why when you have a flat battery only the drivers door opens.

Well I must have a very special 911 then, because my early 993 (Reg Dec 1993) central locking works off both doors.

Thanks Paul - that makes me think the problem I have must be an electrical connection rather than a dud solenoid (I hope).
About to hunt for broken connections. . .
