How is your KN in this snow

Deepy disappointed, however I think thats more of a tyre issue than a vehicle issue.

After last years snows I promised myself a set of winter boots but as with everything never got around to it.

ORIGINAL: tiskev

Are you getting around ok in this "stuff" Are you impressed /disappointed?

I am impressed.

I went to the Kennels this morning to collect the Dogs and was their first Client for 3 days.

Our lane is steep and narrow but with Low Range selected and the Diff locks 'On' it pulled well. The only other tracks were those of the local farmer's tractor.

The hardest part was getting from the lane and turning up the driveway to the house so I cheated a bit and went further up the lane, turned in a neighbor's entrance then attacked our drive from a downhill direction.

I Destroyed a wheel (20 inch techno[:(])when i understeered into a kerb[]!Was my fault entirely i was going too quick for the conditions and turned into a road with polished surface,i find traction is brilliant but ability to stop and steer is something to watch out for....

Find it brilliant especially with the tyres I have. In deep snow haven't even needed low range or diff lock yet!! Even uphill with polished snow & ice below works well. Completely different storey from the Bridgestones last year.

I have a set of 18 inch wheels with all terrain tyres on that I use in the shooting season, gets me all over the farms I shoot on. In the snow they work great, I even managed to tow a Mercedes SL55 AMG up an icy hill, as he got stuck!

I know the feeling have been promising myself a set for 5 years now.
this might just get me to do something.

Well worth getting a set of winter wheels and tyres - ebay is a happy hunting ground.

We live at the top of a hill and one of the only vehicles able to get in and out with the last bout of snow before Christmas. Mind you, we're in Spain atm and fat chance of getting back tomorrow with Squeezy Jet. Amazingly, there's snow down here on the hillside on the Costa Blanca, usually unheard of here.

I've been very impressed. No issues at all and fun doing low speed power slides / 4 wheel drifts.

Sailed up the road to Arc 1950 at Christmas past loads of cars putting on chains inc other 4x4's[:D]. No chains needed despite the ice.

20" Toyo road tyres fitted with 25k miles on them. Impressed with these tyres, especially given other owners experience with other brands.

Purchased a Cayenne Turbo on the basis that, you get what you pay for, and at the time it was probably the priciest in class. May be famous last words but have not been disappointed in snow, mud or for that matter sun. Great piece of kit and, in my experence, superior to all the rest.

same here;
KN turbo
downsized to 18" rims with Pirelli Scorpion snow & Ice tyres.
Travelling through some of the Cotswolds minor roads today was an eye opener.
So many cars stuffed into trees / hedges / ditches & abandoned - including 4 wheel drive variants !
At one stage, going a up a steep polished hill, a 4x4 JCB farm vehicle was all over the place; so I stopped, waited for him to eventually clear then calmly drove up the same hill with no slippage
truly amazing...

The hardest part was getting from the lane and turning up the driveway to the house so I cheated a bit and went further up the lane, turned in a neighbor's entrance then attacked our drive from a downhill direction.

Even cheating again today, The KN would not move on Sheet ice that had formed on the steepest part and I nearly slid sideways into the wall [8|]

Still, I had a garden spade with me and 'Chopped up' the ice the drove up.

To be fair considering i am on 18 inch bridgestone Turanzas the old girl is doing pretty well.

Well, got back from Spain yesterday, taxi driver gave up on the hill to our house so lugged suitcases up wearing 'unsuitable clothes'...and found this:

A quick wipe down , one turn of the key and we're away.

Winter tyres, the only way to go.

Impressed but am going to invest in a set of winter or all-terrain wheels. Anyone got any recommendations? I was thinking of Pirelli Scorpions. Will have to get downsized wheels as well (down from GTS 21"s).

I am told that the scorpion ice and snow are the way to go with 18 inch wheels.
but if they are only for local work maybe some chunkier boots would be as well ? if you were not going to chase up motorways etc..

see my post above - would not be without them in the snow !
just towed 3 cars this AM - hill by the house is quite steep, but no issues in the KN - even backwards with a fully loaded volvo estate being towed - the road was so slippy I got out of the car and fell straight over - and that was with walking boots on
local council should shut the road - it's got dangerous
