How long does a clutch last?

I know it depends on how it's driven, in town or motorway etc.... but as a guide how long will you expect your clutch to last.

My car is in at JZM at the moment having a new one fitted and they just phoned to tell me all the extras that need doing and they informed me that the old clutch in the car was the original. It has lasted 17 years and 104000 miles.
Is this a record?

Certainly not. The usual reason for a clutch to fail on a propper 911 (pre 964) is for the 'fingers' at the centre to rust away and that usually takes 20 years.
My 911 2.7 failed in the Isle of Man 2000 the car was built in 1974. Robin Walkers 2.4S ( 1972 car) failed in 1999. Both clutches were the original.
Incidentally. May car showed 38K but it wasn't the first and probably not the second time around!

Kevin,
Mine 3.2 Carrera's also just gone into JZ Machtech for a clutch after 70,000 miles.

Also getting the shocks changed plus a few other bits.

Mine lasted 118,000 miles on a 3.2 Supersport. On the 18k I had owned it until I replaced it, the car was driven hard.
