How long should it last?

Hello all - looking for some insight into high mileage boxsters - mine has done 96k, I am half tempted to px it for a newer one, but I know my car, I know whats been replaced when etc... I know how I drive it etc.... and I'm not entirely sure buying a lower mileage but still OOW boxster is neccesarily going to do a lot for me apart from cost me money!

So - what I'm looking for is some other forumites high mileage older Boxster stories to make me feel better about deciding to stick with ye old faithful for the time being. Who has the highest mileage regularly used Boxster here?

John

Well alright....

Mine is about 300 miles short of 100,000 which are all mine bar 11, with a split header tank being the only problem.

I am expecting it to self-destruct next Monday. [&:]

mine has done 107K...no issues so far. I toyed with the idea of chopping in for a lower mileage model, but like you say, i know the car and whats been done to it so there is more peace of mind from that perspective and if my old Peugeot 309 could do 140K i would certainly expect the Boxster to do better!

guy on boxa.net sold his at 123k - only because he found a 987 for £22k, now sold and replaced with a 987s for the same money !

Not quite the same but there are afew 996 turbos on rennteam with over 300k kilometres on them - thats over 180k miles - they get round the 'Ring regularly too. Goes to show that regular use isn't an issue !

I had a freind do nearly 140k in 2.5 yrs in a 2.7 986.

Apart from standard servicing and a roof replaced under warranty, went smoothly......

You can take a photo as it all flips round from 99999 - 100000! [:D]

I have just bought mine at 96,000 miles. I hope it has many years of life and many miles left. As an ex 944 owner, lets hope Boxsters last like the 944s did.

My Boxster S has done 97000 and feels fine. Its all down to condition and maintainence - a low mileage car could still drive like a pig if its been abused.
I mentioned in another post that I recently test drove a brand new Boxster and the difference between that car and mine was nowhere near as great as I had expected - other than the much improved quality of the interior.
The other point is that I know my Boxster is not worth a great deal on the open market - I think I would take a major hit in the pocket if I were to trade it in. Its worth so much more to me: it still looks fantastic, drives superbly and its hard to justify changing it.
