How long should w/screen wiper blades last

As per the title;
how long do you think the front windscreen wiper blades should last, or if you prefer, how often do you change them?

Once knackered, are they just standard Bosch jobbies you can buy from Halfords?

Stuart, beleive it or not but they were cheap at the Reading OPC
also on mine the passenger blade is curved and not available AFAIK in Halfords, yours presumably will be the same
Think i paid £10.50 a pair............ with my club discount [;)]

Stuart,

I don't know if there is a scientific answer to this, but my experience is that if you get two years use, then you will be lucky. I think it is like all rubber products, it depends on usage and exposure to UV light. I use the exorbitantly expensive PIAA silicone blades, which seem to last longer, and do a much better job IMHO. They also leave a film on the glass, which has a "Rain-X" effect, and will happily wipe a dry screen without any judder. As far as I'm concerned they are worth every penny (14 quid + VAT each). It's one of those areas where I won't compromise. See http://www.piaa.co.uk for information.
