How long to get a new 997 CS

You all seem to be getting your new cars much earlier than me. I placed a deposit back in June for a new car and will not be getting it until July next year (2005). It's a 997 Carrera S with all the usual additional options, nothing too special. Is my dealer giving preference to his usual customers at my expense do you think?

Sounds like I could cancel my order with this dealer in London and place it with another dealer and get it 4 months earlier...

Any observations?

Thanks

You could shop around and you should be able to get one sooner. However,

1. It will probably come through earlier anyway, particularly if you call your OPC regularly.

2. A later built car should be better as the production process becomes more refined and minor, detailed improvements are introduced.

3. The options availability should be resolved.

[&o]Sunday Times has a good selection of brand new 997"S"'s UK supplied at List Price!
Speculators trying to bail out [:-] or change of circumstances who knows you may even get a saving on the List price
from these ads. Alternatively speak to the PC Dealer Principle and tell him what you think of the service so far.

01/12/04 I specced up a 987"S" and paid my deposit for a Feb build - March delivery car. My previous Boxsters ordered 96 98 2000 & 2003
all arrived pretty much on scheduled time as one would expect [;)] I think you have been treated pretty unfairly and should make the dealer
aware also. Out of interest which London PC are you currently using

If you want a Black/Black 997S with the multi-spoke wheeks, there's one sat in the Wilmslow Porsche Centres showroom for sale at list price.

I placed an order in April 2003 - yes 2003 - and got an Oct build slot which I delayed to Nov thinking I would get the sports exhaust but now its Dec, the car is still not built and I can't get the sports exhaust so I'm anything but impressed at Porsche.
Best to wait until Mar/Apr build cars when you might get some of the options worth having.
If they mess me around any more, have my build slot as I will cancel and order the 2006 Maserati coupe instead!

London East.
Only really using them because they are local. Over the years I've bought cars from Merlin Nottingham, AFN Guildford, Chiswick and Park Lane and I can honestly not differentiate between their service and support. Way too low considering the cost of the car. Been buying my wife BMWs for the same period of time as well and my local dealer couldn't be more helpful. Odd!

Latest update on my car - ordered beginning of August 04 with initial build date of May. After the order was processed, told it would be a Feb build with delivery during March. Had a call today from OPC saying car goes into production on 23 Dec with dleivery end Jan/beginning of Feb!
This is in special order paint that 'might' delay the build ! Bizarre!
Depending upon actual arrival time, may delay collecting the car till 1 March (even though PP going on the car) for residual reasons.

If you are looking for a buyer for your 996, you might try Tony Wright at www.wrightune.co.uk as he has a customer looking for one like yours. Check his web site or phone 01491-826911. HTH.

£28,000 (ish).

Why not try to sell it privately for c.£34,000

I take it you're putting yourself forward as a buyer in this case ?????

Trade would surely be circa 35k minimum

Trade would surely be circa 35k minimum

You can find used 996 facelift's on the Porsche cars website for around £45k. I would not imagine that they would offer much more than 30 for a Y reg 3.4, then retail them for 35 and that would be tops. Dealers don't like 996's with 50k miles plus on them.
