How many dash bulbs?

Apart from the 3 main dial bulbs how many other bulbs illuminate the clock and heater controls etc, what type and size are they?
Thanks

IIRC, the heater control bulbs are soldered onto the board and very tricky to replace (especially with LEDs). The clock is a single smaller bulb (not sure of the type) in a twist on fitting.

Mike is right. I had a period of converstaion with Darren about replacing the heater pack bulbs with LEDs and the conclusion was that it was very very tricky and not very satisfactory when done.[FONT=verdana, geneva"] [FONT=verdana, geneva"]There is a clock bulb, an ashtray bulb (same type) and the switches for fog lights, headlights and central locking also.[FONT=verdana, geneva"]

Do you know if the row of switches on the centre console for sunroof, rear wiper, etc are supposed to be lit too?

See John Sims' website for a really good way of lighting up those console switches.

Never again will you break the sunroof gears whilst trying to clear the rear window or adjust the mirrors [:(]

Sorry, they are not on a page - I must get around to doing some updates. However:-

Using a strip with two LED's from Chavfords - you get two strips in a blister pack in either white, blue, green or red. There are also the Douglas Adams edition in black that light up black. [:)] (You'd have to know where your towel is to understand the last comment)

I like that solution, but another to consider is that some cars (including the hearse and the Passat W8 I believe) have red LED illumination in the roof to give a low-level ambient light in the cabin. It has to be red in that case though as red light does not upset night vision.
