Hi Guys

Before I jack her up and take apart etc, does anyone know if there are 1 or 2 cooling fans on the front of a 996, (99) when I have the air con on or she is warm a fan runs only on the passenger side, is this normal or should there be one on the drivers side. The fan on the rear also works

cheers

There are two two-speed fans. One on each side.

There is only one fuse for each fan. C8 and C10, so I would start by checking them.

A common problem is that the ballast resistor (one for each fan), which controls the slow speed, fails. This means that the fan will run at high speed, but not low.

Each fan has two relays (one for each speed - total 4 relays) so that might be another possibility.

I will be doing mine this week.

Ill let you know how much of a difference it makes, Mine always climbs just to the end of the 0 of 80 so over half way just.
Which according to the book is a tad warm.

Thanks Richard

I tried it today, it got late 80's then the front kicked in along with the rear, but no fan on the right, it does cool the car and shut off, but no low speed that I noticed.

Some people also just bridge pin 84 (Gnd) of low relay to 84 of the high speed relay for both sides that way fans kick straight to high.
