How Many Made

Hi all,
I have a 1995 993 C4 PRE Varioram. I recently visited Ninemiester for a body work quote. They know there 993`s inside out, possibly more of the 2 wheel drive version than the 4 thow. He said he had never come across a pre varioram C4 before. Just wondered where I could find the production figures, any clues anyone ?
Thank you.

Here are the UK production totals, courtesy of Maurice.

https://www.porscheclubgb.com/legacy/clientFtp/Register/993/MP993UKSales.htm

As you will see, in 1994 model year (pre-varioram) there were 19 UK C4s imported, compared to 603 C2s, but in 1995 MY, also pre-varioram, C4 numbers picked up, as C2 numbers reduced.

According to the literature, (Morgan and Frere), worldwide C4 production started more or less at the same time as C2 production, back in late 1993. Looks like UK imports were quite slow to start with, compared to the C2s, so that might explain why ninemeister haven't seen many. Things did pick up in '95 though, so I'm a little surprised.

Looking at that bar chart i recon it totals somewhere in the region of 450 993 C4S total UK production. Still not alot is it........

Yes there were 441 C4 coupes, 122 C4 cabrios, 29 C4 "coupe/cabrios" (whatever that is) and 181 C4S widebody officially imported into the UK. That is a grand total of 592 narrow body and 181 widebody C4s.

Not huge numbers, and by now, many will have been written off/scrapped. I wonder how many are still on the road ?

As you say not many when u think of the age of these cars now and some that are scrapped or been shipped abroad. Mine will soon be a C4 with full new ssupension from Centre Gravity and engine chip....wont eb many of those about :)

I am just on the look out for a 993 Targa to replace my 944 turbo.

Is there anywhere that I can find out how many speed yellow Targa were built and sold in the UK?

If anyone knows where there may be one for sale, I would also like to know.

Thanks in advance

Rich

...

The link above (2nd post) gives you the targa number - see the last tab. But it does not give colours. There was a discussion on here around about the time Maurice posted the original thread on 993 production numbers where he looked at colours - but nothing official - was based on the club database and projecting numbers to estimate total numbers. You might find it with a search....

I think speed yellow is an ideal Targa colour - there is a 997 Targa in speed yellow that lives near me and it looks fantastic.
