How many Sessions did you get at Castle Combe

JCB..

Someone has stated that they only had 3 sessions on Saturday which surprised me. I had 3 sessions morning and afternoon and most people around me seemed to have the same.

Can you post here with your tally please?

2 in the morning (though didn't hit the queue until 10am as was a little late signing in) and 3 in the afternoon. A bit disappointed with the total of 5, especially as I was sharing the driving so I got 3 sessions and my girlfriend got 2. At one stage in the afternoon the middle column went out twice in succession without our (right-hand as you looked towards the pit exit) lane getting a look-in.

Big hats-off to all the drivers for very gentlemanly conduct. And especially big thanks to Kevin Cooke for taking Sal for a few laps in his awesome GT3.

An 09:00 start would have made it 3+3 which I think is the norm for a quiet day at Castle Combe.

We were middle row arrived at 9am .. we had 2 sessions in the Morning and one in the afternoon - HOWEVER We left after the one in the afternoon as we had another appointment which we had to go to...

Washed the car yesterday .. OMG I killed some flies [:-]

Sounds like you guys generally had a good day.

From having done several days at Combe, 3 AM & 3 PM sessions would be absolutely the norm provided you:-
1) Arrived on time,
2) Kept your place in the line (by not wandering off)
3) Stayed until the end.

Goodwood is the same.

I also managed 3 + 3, having arrived at 8:00 and staying until the very end.

It all went a bit random for a while after lunch, when the bloke in an orange boiler suit starting using a different dispatch system when Steve wasn't there to supervise. (He was sending out the first two cars in each row until a few of us explained the 'proper' system to him [])

I was unfortunate to be in lane 3 which just got ignored at one point as, as soon as Stephen took a break or was away the release sequence just got thrown away and the local staff decided to use their own formula. I think there were 3 of us on the 3rd lane who had to wait almost 45 minutes for the last session when Stephen had already told us we were out next some 45 minute before we finally got our session. All, 3 of us felt we got 1 less session than everyone else. [:(]

I was in the front of the 3rd lane to start of with but after we had the Boxster photo session and parade laps, some of us ended up at the back of the queue and then we just simply got 2 sessions in the afternoon... I must say, Stephen did an excellent job; it was when he was not around that things fell apart...

Kish in action......

I got 3 in the morning and 3 in the afternoon, all seemed pretty well organised and what I expected from a previous day at Castle Coombe. Great stuff!

2 in the morning and 3 in the afternoon.
In my humble opinion may have worked a little better if you were stickered into
one of three groups when you signed on .It would have been easier to manage.Works for Goldtrack.
Sorry if this upsets some people.

I think I was one of the three who got out of sequence after the parade laps and ended up further back in lane 3 than before lunch. Having said that, everything was running smoothly until Steve disappeared for a well-earned break and then it all went wrong as it took an age to go out in the afternoon. I ended up with 3 sessions in the morning but only 2 in the afternoon.

Still a great day though! [:D]

Even with a few missing out on some laps it sounds like you had a great day. Out of interest, what sort of speeds did you guys get up to on the track? Especially those doing their first trackday.

Managed 128 just at the crest.Have some great in car footage if someone can host it.
At the moment 14mins in high res so 750m could re-edit so could end up around 15m.

On the fastest lap in Kevins' cobalt blue GT3 on Saturday I noticed the speed shown at 136 mph prior to braking and entering the first corner. Exhilarating for me; and I trusted Kevin completely - and with good reason because he had full confidence in his car and his abilities as well as the necessary skills.

Next time at a Porsche track day I am prepared, in the interests of research you understand [8|], to sit as a passenger again for hot laps.

Of course, if some brave soul were prepared to let me drive a GT3 [again, only for testing purposes and with a 'minder' [8|]] .......

Julian,

Sounds about right, by lifting before Folly I never ran out of revs in 4th before Avon rise, in the afternoon with a slightly lighter passenger (and a better line thru Camp by copying Steve Merrit) I was seeing 8000rpm before braking which is just on 140 true, no idea what the speedo reads as it's not in the line of sight but probaly closer to 150mph .

Steve Merrit was not lifting before Folly and he was hiting the rev limiter in 4th. No doubt when he gets used to CC (it was his 1st time but 15yrs of karting certainly shows) he'll short shift into 5th before Folly.

Regards

Kevin
