How many turns to fire up?

Just woundering as I haven't been in any other S2's, to start mine up in take 3 to 5 turns of the starter to fire up the engine. Is that normal?

Yes don't worry Andriko the S2 is well known for having a slow crank speed and turns a couple of times before it starts. I was at a 944 Register meet once where we had a comparison with Turbos and Luxes and the S2 loses every time [:(]

Someone investigated further and apparently there is some technical mumbo jumbo about the DME (computer) waiting until the flywheel is at a certain speed before firing the fuel injetors [8D]

My S2 goes chug chug chug chug FIRE

My Turbo goes chug FIRE

I wondered on that one.

My S2 takes about 5 cranks to start, but interestingly the battery was getting old the other week and left me stranded, but not before it had turned over and over but would not start. Just cough and nearly start then stop. New battery fitted and everything fine again.

Previous S2 had three new starters and two new batteries, used to turnover sooo slowwwly it was unbeleiveable it would start yet always did. Although I often thought it would'nt.

Thats good to hear that the chug chug chug chug starting up is normal. I always think that it won't start.
