How much for.......

A G50 gearbox mint condition 3.2 Sport or SSE with low mileage (say under 75k).

I have put the 993 'S' up for sale (with a very heavy heart - see link)http://www.pistonheads.com/sales/906856.htm but it's not all bad news as I hope to replace it.

A friend of mine has a superb 55,000 mile 1989 3.2 Sport which is in near concourse and original condition. He has owned it for over 10 years and following purchase of a 997 says that once I have sold my 993 he may allow me to talk him in to selling it to me (he must be good at sales, making me feel grateful for him selling it to me is a nice trick). As for how much, I don't think either of us has any idea. Perhaps you can help.

Of course, he may not be talked around and if not I'll look for another. I'd happily consider an SSE also so if you could tell me what premium they would fetch over a Sport that would be helpful too.

Oh, and I only want the Coupe. Targa, Speedster and rag top are not for me.

Thanks in advance for your help.

Bought my 3.2 sport 22k miles, original in very good condition for 10k.

(did help being the owners son though)

Excellent deal that Gary

Think you'd be looking around £14-16+k depending on condition which you say is concours but are you sure it is? Low mileage isn't aways that good as they do need using and top end can suffer from lack of use/short journeys. The warm up cycle runs very rich and can wash the lubrication from the valve guides leading to premature wear in some cases, so a car that has just been used to ponce down to the shops in occasionally and not had a proper journey would be nest avoided over one with twice the miles and potentially in better health, that just my opinion though.

Yeah - what a great deal!
A garage near to me as just sold a black on black coupe se - dont know what the sale price was but was in the window at £19500.
As Big Nige says low mileage can be a problem, one of our region members swapped a moderate mileage Aston for a Very low mileage one (ex museum car) and its forever breaking down and having bits replaced.
Cost or value of the car is really down to how much the buyer wnats to part with for a car.
Malton have a nice Baltuic Blue se coupe for just sub £20k..........
I guess that the garage queen low mileage examples will always command good money - but a well maintained and well used car would be my choice.

Trying doing a search on this forum with the keyword Supersport. A lot of very useful info already posted on this - comments and
prod figs.

In summary a SSE or Supersport is well worth the extra - if you get a chance just look at one next door to the 3.2 sport
the Supersport will win your heart[:D] - you won't want a skinny one anymore[:-] - just the one with the big hips!

Thanks guys,

Low mileage if it has been used for decent journey's I'm guessing isn't a problem. Those with low mileage, like my 993 for instance, get used rarely but when they are used it certainly isn't a trip to the shops, its a nice long Sunday drive (or trip to Le Mans) but I understand the theory.

More pics by the guy who details my car if anyone is interested

This made me so not what to sell it but needs must as they say

mmmm, all show and no go, they weigh more than a skinny one too

If you want the looks get a turbo so the the performance matches the image.

Supersports are what the Golf Driver is to the Gti.

Just my opinion[;)]
