Hi I have 996 C2 1999 T REG. 18' ' TURBO ALLOYS BRAND NEW TYRES FPSH RECENT SERVICE BY MAIN DEALER STILL UNDER MAINDEALER WARANTY BLACK LEATHER SPORTS SEATS SILVER PAINT SPORTS SUSPENSION ELECTRIC SUNROOF.

I have put it in Top Marques for 39995 ono is this optimistic? any suggestions to keeping the price the same or reducing it Any replies greatfull thanks.

Sounds like a nice car Ben, subtle way of posting a " for sale" !!
I always think it is hard to sell the higher value Porkers privately, you end up with hundreds of dealers wanting to steal it for nothing, plus the odd " dreamer" , but I wish you the best of luck (by the way Vorland has posted for a 996 in the for sale section).
With regards to value, why not try phoning around a few OPC buyers (get their numbers from the sunday times) & they will give you the " real" value of your car, the private price is then between the OPC sticker price & the trade value. In honesty I simply traded my last Porker to the OPC at Swindon, they gave the best price, collected the car & gave me a cheque, no hassle !! Best of luck.
P.S. What are you changing to ???????????????

Thanks for the reply Grant. OPC have ranged between 34-45k with no hassle cheque upfront treatment. Only thing is I bought the car in Feb this year for 45k so am a bit resentfull about letting it go for that. Im selling it as I need the money for an investment for my business and to top it off as well the insurance is killing me.

My day to day (car) is going to be van for a while untill I have developed the business a little further. Have put a deposit down for 997 so wont be with out porsche ownership for too long.

Sensible chap, better off having your cash invested in the business. As much as we all love cars, they tend to loose money far too fast !! All the best with the private sale, few other idea' s 4 you just incase it doesn' t happen..
1/ take the car to the Eynsham bash & put it in the for sale section ?
2/Try at least a dozen OPC buyers, one may have a customer for a car like yours & pay more, I got £3k more by shopping around.
3/ I know some people who have sold their Porkers via an OPC on Sale or return, in doing so they were offered a much better price, but it can take time & you want them to insure the car.
Nothing you probably haven' t thought about yourself..all the best & i hope business is brisk.

Ben I dont blame you for being resentful about how much you may get for your 996.

Unfortunatly a blue 996 on a 99 plate with 34k on the clock is now sold which I was going to view today. The seller wanted a quick sale and would of accepted £35,500. I had my £500 deposit ready too [:(]

I will give you a call later today regarding your 996. But please do try and sell to an enthusiast instead of a dealer wherever possible ( even if that person is not me )

One thing to bear in mind is that as the 997 release approaches values are going to come under increasing pressure.

My Dad told me something once. He said if you need to get rid of something do it quickly and then focus on wealth creation or something more positive. ( This was while he was pissed in a pub and to do with something else - but I feel its still appropriate [:)] )

Anyway best of luck with the sale.....

I am not sure what your car is worth Ben. I guess its worth what you can sell it for.

I have just part exchanged my 996 Millennium for a GT3RS. The Millennium ( 2000 model ) was a limited edition model based on the Carrera 4. It had absolutely everything fitted as standard. Even the handset was covered in leather. Altogether the options fitted as standard would have cost over £25,000 if you wanted to have them on your normal Carrera!!

Despite having only covered 10,000 miles and being in immacuaate condition, I could not find a private buyer and only got 45k from my OPC. I reckon that if you get more than 35k you have done well.
