how much oil between low and high ?

Anyone know how much oil you need between the low and high mark on the dipstick ? I have managed to let mine get to the bottom mark without checking

About 3 seconds of pouring (although it's probably closer to 2.5 seconds at the speed I count). Seriously I don't know for sure and just guess and usually get it pretty spot on. I've only once slightly overfilled but it was before I fixed my oil leak so knew that the level would drop in a week or so. Knowing how logical the Germans are I'm included to guess it's either half a litre or a full litre.

Surely the warning light came on? On my S2 the light will come on when about 1/3 of the way above the bottom mark

Hi thanks for your replies. Have been out of it with tooth and jaw infection .
My oil light has not come on and the guage says 4.5 when driven normally 5 when cold and never goes below 4 whatever !
I had better fill her up with 1/2 ltr tomorrow then top up following morning. .
thanks for your help guys

ISTR there is a pickup in the sump which triggers the warning light when the level is low quite apart from oil pressure.

There is and they are prone to failure, though usually to generate a false low indication.
