just wondering as i've managed to hide within the boot of my 993... without compromising the space

Tow-Rope = with the warning triangle in it's casing

1 Litre can of Mobil 1 = tucked up next / around the CD Changer (fits nicely in the space in the boot carpet)

Blue 1 metre long floor plastic mat (just in case I need to be crawling around!) = rolled up down the bottom of the CD changer unit tucked up in the base of the carpet

1st aid kit (about 10x4inches) from my Audi ! = hidden behind the carpet in the corner gap down from the left suspension mount.....

er.....anything else I'm missing ? [:D]

rather for me ! just in case...

although havent used it in 7 years.....

yea.. a strut brace.. need one of those ![;)]

- Little pouch in the middle has : Tyre pressure gauge + Window cleaner + half a kitchen roll

- In the spare wheel - all the standard kit + spare relay + 1L Mobil 1 + 1st Aid kit + Mini Mag Light (now lost)

- On the spare wheel under carper : Large UK road map

- Where the original medical kit was : Spare bulb kit

damn there is clearly still space hidden away !

btw.. where was the original placement of the medical kit ?

Just above and infront of the spare wheel on your left looking in, kind of in the bumper .... hope that makes sense. You have to lift the carpet.

Due to the loss of my MiniMagLight in a field as I fell about backstage at VFestival in Chelmsford last weekend I thought I would upgrade as I like to keep a flash light in the car and as camping at Brands this weekend so I have gone for :

http://www.inovalight.com/site.html?X5-ov

should get it tomorrow.... nice and bright, small and tough so should go into the glove box easily.

Am I missing something ....

what's the point of this question. ???

only thing in boot is CD changer,,,,,

suppose there should be a spare wheel as well.....

scottie. ?

As far as I can see Sundeep was just asking what we kept in the front of our cars out of intrst and as a result has now found out their is a place for a Porsche First Aid kit....

I would say you have the most important thing missing in your car is a spare wheel, do really not have a spare ??

there is a spare wheel....but would be terrified to use it.... its tiny ! but didnt know there should be a first aid kit.....

must get one of those....

regards
scott..

I have used the space saver on my old 911 (SC) it gets you home and to a tyre shop. Just make sure your compressor is working ..... that spare is no good without it !!!!

I looked into the Flick Light but the X5 listed above is far superior !! 5 Leds not 4, 50m waterproof not 30m, 2000lbs before it crushes ...... Ok battery time is not as good it seems.

I have one now and its bloody great.

Click the link above to read about it and then I have a great site to buy one from. Ordered at 1600 and had it in the morning the next day.

Get your self a 40gig Ipod mate, i carry 350 albums (at Cd quality) on it and its only 65% full.

CD changers, mp3 etc have nothing on this baby.

Conect to head unit via either a FM transmiter on the pod or aux cable (only on some head units but worth the cost)

John, how does this work? A CD holds 650MB of music or an album. 350 albums would be 650 MB x 350 = 227GB. How do you compress that to 26GB and maintain CD quality?

Regards

Good question, I tunes does it all for you. Insert CD into Mac (it does also work on PC) the Itunes boots up and imports the CD also getting album and track names from the web along with all sorts of other stuff if you want.

It imports at CD quality and you can change this to get more songs on if you wish. I do mine at CD standard then if I wish to burn it onto CD later I know its good.

It must compress them as the files size for each track is about 4mg. Just had a look at the software and it uses MP3 compression.

Technically I'm not sure how it all works exactly but I do know its one of the best bits of kit I have bought for ages. My library is 4,383 songs ot 12.6 days continued playing time!!!!

Johno.....I was thinking about the ipod, then I started looking at the iriver player . I must agree with you CD changers are old technology
now, they just take up too much room. It is now possible to carry your CD collection with you at all times

I am going down the MP3 road at the moment and after lots of research I am not going for an iPod but the Iriver h340 (better sound quality, longer battery power, colour screen display photos, use it as a hard disc for all file types). I have read a lot of independant reviews and this seems to be the best product on the market right now. It may not look as good as a iPOD but it sounds far more superior and you get a lot of kit included with it.

I can't wire it into my Porsche CDR21 but I will use a radio transmitter to play from the iRiver.

(Just trying find the best deal for one. The best have found in UK is £340.....)

Open a new era of color
For the first time for the MP3 jukebox the H300 series boasts a 260,000 color 2" TFT LCD which supports a wide array of colorful icons and menus, bringing added convenience.

All the advantages of a color screen can now be yours through this great new product.

Photos from digital cameras can be directly transferred to the player as it supports the USB Host function
As the H300 supports the USB host function, data from other UMS devices can be directly transferred to the player through a single cable without having to use a desktop computer.

All of you digital camera users who have been waiting for this function will be pleased to know that files can be transferred directly from portable USB devices such as the digital camera. With the addition of a browser function, this function has become even easier to use.

Easy-to-use external disk with USB 2.0
This easy-to-use external disk reduces waiting time with a faster transfer rate
By supporting the USB 2.0 interface, the player can transfer data at a maximum speed of 480Mbps. Since interfacing does not require a separate manager program as the player is recognized as a portable data storage, its use as an external hard disk is made even easier.

Both photos and texts are supported!
Considering the many attractive functions of the player, resisting the urge to own one will be difficult.

The color screen can display 26 letters (13 Korean letters) horizontal and 10 rows vertical. The player provides a Text Viewer for displaying lyrics or e-books, an Image Viewer for viewing stored JPEG or BMP files, or for photos downloaded from a digital camera

A customized sound quality of your choice can be tailored to your every listening need.
SRS WOW introduces an excellence in bass and three-dimensional sound. You can create your favorite settings using the 5 preset EQ and user control EQ.

With 20mW output, you will enjoy a world rich and powerful in sound

Charge the player with the USB cable
H300 Series uses lithium polymer batteries that can produce 16-hours of continuous play from 3-hour charges. There is no need for an adapter any more. Instead, with the USB cable connection, the player is charged automatically when connected to the PC.

Always have radio broadcasts accessible at your fingertips
The H300 Series features a radio function for listening and recording. Now you can record radio shows with the H300 model as requested from many H100 customers.

Settings are saved for easy FM broadcast listening. Even on the move, you can enjoy crisp reception wherever you are. Now you can enjoy FM radio broadcasting anywhere in the world.

Simple and easy Album Management Function!
Songs may be searched and played according to the artist, album, genre, and filename through the DB function. The player also supports the Winamp playlist enabling the user to create personalized albums.

Upgraded Voice Recording, Direct Encoding and Lineout Output
H300 makes it easy and simple to record voice with internal/external microphones, and other audio sound (such as CD, cassette tape or radio) with the analog cable.

The Direct Encoding function directly connects to a CD player or other audio

tools and converts the music into the MP3 format. AutoSync automatically

categorizes and stores music into the MP3 format. Voice Detect supports

voice recording, and enables the system to be turned on only when voice is

detected, saving storage space and power consumption.

Compatibility with AGC(Auto Gain Control) makes recording capabilities comparable to a professional recorder; it captures sound from even at a distance and controls recording quality.

H300 is compatible with Lineout, which produces dynamic sound with its analogue cable connection to the speaker.

Great product the Iriver h340, but the Ipod is also a storage disk for text etc.

I'm not sure how you can get better sound quality as its CD standard?

I also have it linked to my Itunes and airport extreme, with the the help of a single small piece of kit next to the stero I can transmit, wireless, to my front room or any powered speakers in the house and use the computer as a jukebox.

The form and function of the Ipod is what sold it to me in the end, it is just so easy to use and set up, PC or MAC. Dont just read about them, try and use one of them before buying.

I am a Mac addict, running them both at home and at my business so its a great addtion.

In general, ditch the CD/MP3 multiplay units and invest in one of these or similar.

Oh and just as a side note, it took me 4 days nearly constantly inserting CDs into the Mac to import to the Ipod!!!!!! It was fun at first but by day 2 it was a total bind. There are a couple of companies now springing up that will do it for you for a small fee!
