How much was it?

Ive checked my Peter Morgan 924/944 book which lists all models and year of manufactor, the UK price for a 944 Lux was £12,999 with auto £479 extra.

Hope this helps you. Bob

Thanks Bob, I was just curious, I suppose to put it into perspective you'd have to compare it with the price of a Ford Cortina or Capri at the time!

When you think about it that was a lot of money 20 years ago. By the way the book I mentioned is well worth having, gives a run down on most subjects.

Ive got a 1988 924S which has much in common with the early 944 thats why Im always looking in your register.

Regards Bob

I was 17 at the time on £25 a week, YTS I think they called it :ROFLMAO:
So that is the only reference I have to value of £12999, In '83 I got a proper job but being the age I was, money was something that went way too fast!

Tony

A good way to establis old prices is to compare them with annual income.

In 1982 £12000 was a good income average was probably a bit lower.

Whats a godd income today?

Don't know!

Cabs and Turbos peaked around £42k IIRC. Cabs then dropped back to around £32k at the end of production in '92. Probably the S2 coupe did as well.

An XR2 cost £8,500 in 1986 - my then girlfriend got one for her 18th birthday, but I wasn't jealous - I preferrred my '69 Escort 1.3 [;)]
