How much...??!!!!

Errm, just enquired about the price for a new pair of front strut top mounts from my friendly local OPC...

...£239.15 PLUS Vat each....[]

OK, now I see why people fit Racers Edge anodized ones instead - not just for the adjustability factor then?![8|]

Thats a strong price, isnt it? Ive seen some (reasonable) solid non-adjustable ones on eBay for about £100-£125 a pair. You can elongate the mounting holes it you need to fiddle though...

I knew they were expensive....

have you tried Exeter? - they do seem to be the cheapest, particularly once they have added in the "forum" discount

It's still better value than a bridge spoiler "hockey stick" side trim [:D] (particularly when you have to buy two because you broke the first one )

The non adjustable solid top mounts from Simon at ESS are very reasonable and do a good job (under £100 for both IIRC) though I have a set of adjustables to go on at some point too [8D]

I've just bought some small parts from Exeter that are all a damn good price in my opinion

silver Turbo badge for the rear £6.67
silver Porsche script for the rear bumper £29
rubber boot lock grommet 98p
plastic sill trim nuts 11p each (10 per side)

Those prices were all before they took off our usual Club forum discount and included free 2nd class postage

On Ebay and various online traders I can see the grommet selling at £3.75 and the Turbo badge for £15. Possibly NOT a bargain at circa 300% markup over the dealer []

Yes, I must admit that I have learnt my lesson there as most of the parts for our cars can be bought cheaper from an OPC (with PCGB discount etc) for less than from aftermarket suppliers. Definitely pays to get OPC prices first![;)]

but those nice shiny Racers Edge plates are looking mighty enticing....[:D]

Nick you know you want too,

Aaaaargghh! No, get thee away with thine shiny suspension bits.......[:D]

Not that I've checked, but I can get Racers Edge ones from the States for around £300 the pair....[8|][:D]

I pictures of thee bits you desire would you like too see.......

Nick I have been trying to find a link to Fastech racing for you who make some top mounts at less
than the racers edge ones, alas they seem to have vanished but if I can get a link or email for them they would be my first port of call.

(did you sort your spring rates out?)

I've found these http://www.deutschnine.com/mm5/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD&Store_Code=porsche-transaxle&Product_Code=D9-944II951S2-AUCP-102-01-001&Category_Code=porsche-transaxle-944-turbo-s2-tuning-handling , which seem just as good as the Racers Edge ones?

I plumped for 300lbs/in front springs in the end and she definitely has far more front end bite now and the slight increase in weight transfer as a result, also seems to help with the braking too - could just be my imagination though, that one...[8|]

I've never bought parts direct from an OPC as there's no one near to me - do they do any mail order service?

I think most of them do. I'm in Northampton and my local OPC is only 10 miles away but I get all my parts mail ordered from Exeter OPC because we 944's have a very good relationship with the parts guys there and they really do know their way round the parts diagrams for our older models. They will always strive to be the best price if you mention the Forum and will normally throw in free postage.

Nick - how about these...

oh - I just read this

"Note: Will not allow the use of any aftermarket strut brace." [&:]
